STEM EDUCATION
FOR 21ST-CENTURY CAREERS
In a little over 40 years, society has gone from being enhanced by science, engineering and technology to being powered by them. Higher education has taken a little while longer to catch up. That’s why Harrisburg University of Science and Technology was founded—to accelerate career-focused education in order to meet growing demand for professionals who understand STEM concepts and apply them in the workplace.
Choose us if you want:
Programs that answer to—and anticipate—the marketplace. STEM-related career paths are growing. The U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics anticipates overall job growth of 5% over the 2021-2031 period. 1 In STEM-related fields, job growth projections are higher.
Earn a degree with HU, and you’ll have skills and knowledge that can apply to these and other exciting fields.
Curriculum that aligns with the highest industry standards. Wherever possible, we design our courses and programs to reflect the professional standards of their industries. Our cybersecurity degree, for example, aligns with National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST), National Security Agency (NSA) and Department of Homeland Security Center of Academic Excellence (CAE) criteria. Our project management degree meets Project Management Institute® Project Management Professional® and Agile Lean certification qualifications. And our RN to BSN and MSN programs are accredited by the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE)**.
A focus on practical, experiential learning and holistic professional growth. Our programs also embed experiential learning opportunities into your studies, including:
Whether you’re pursuing project-based learning with industry data while earning your M.S. in Analytics or helping manage a live event as a student in our B.S. in Esports Management, Production, and Performance, you’ll be able to build confidence by applying what you know in a real-world setting.
A more affordable education. HU is a private non-profit university. We haven’t raised undergrad tuition rates since 2012 and we aren’t planning to raise them soon.* The result is tuition that’s among the lowest offered by any private university in Pennsylvania. Plus, financial aid and scholarship opportunities are available if you qualify. That’s why HU graduates complete their degrees with $6,000 less in student debt compared to the national average.
A student body that reflects today’s America. The National Center for Education Statistics reports that in 2021-22, only 35% of the STEM qualifications awarded that year went to women, and only 7.6% of them went to students who were Black.6
By contrast, as of 2022, our undergraduate student body is 67% ethnic minority, while our graduate student body is 51% female.7 We want to increase opportunity for—and capitalize on the talent of—people who have traditionally been discouraged or excluded from pursuing STEM education. At HU, we are dedicated to diversity, and you are welcome here.
Online programs that bring you the best education HU offers—wherever you are. We know that college education needs to be more accessible than ever. As an institution focused on STEM education, we also know that means tapping into the power of online learning. Our online programs are built to offer you a university experience that’s just as rigorous and challenging, but available on your schedule and at your location.
